Priscilla G. Cortez

Priscilla Cortez has more than 25 years of experience working with local and national nonprofit organizations in Public Media, Education, and the Human Service sectors, providing direction on community-based program design, management and partnerships; fund development; and nonprofit administration and governance.
Priscilla currently serves as Senior Director of Volunteer Leadership at UT Austin. In this role, she supports six presidential-level boards and councils, facilitating and executing strategic engagement of the university’s most generous donors through Board membership, annual meetings, and communications. Previously, Priscilla served as Chief Community Impact Officer with Austin PBS where she oversaw the station’s community engagement efforts across Central Texas, managed Board relations, and served as a liaison for neighbors, corporate and private foundations, and civic organizations interested in partnering with Austin PBS.
Priscilla has held a number of nonprofit leadership roles throughout her career, including serving as Executive Director of Volunteer Legal Services, a pro bono civil legal services organization, and Executive Director of Philanthropy for Strategic Priorities for The University of Texas System. At UT System, she led principal gift fundraising for the Chancellor’s strategic priorities and was appointed as the first Vice President for Institutional Advancement for the newly established University of Texas Rio Grande Valley where she helped build a comprehensive institutional advancement program.
Priscilla earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Texas A&M University, a master’s degree in education administration from The University of Texas at Austin, and a law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law. She is a member of the National Charity League Treaty Oak Chapter, a founding member of FuturoFund Austin, and a graduate of Leadership Austin’s Emerge and Essential. Priscilla and her husband, John-Michael V. Cortez, live in Mueller with their daughter, Bella, and their frenchie, Gigi.
